This week sees me looking after my nephews (9&10 year olds).  Saturday was my nephews 9th birthday and yesterday he arrived with his brother in Bedford to spend the week ahead with us so their parents can have some down time.  Yesterday we celebrated his birthday with a delicious chocolate & vanilla sponge cake made with coconut sugar and coconut cream for a slightly healthier alternative.  Regardless it was enjoyed by all so that makes me happy!
I know how important it is to nourish our young ones yet making food and snacks look great & tempting.
Here are some options I have tried out which I hope will give you some ideas to try at home. Get your kids involved in the ‘making’ process.  They will love the idea of creating their own foods and will love it even better when the adults enjoy what they have created!

Fresh Carrot & Orange Juice (with a sneaky bit of ginger)

Hummus with lots of fresh veggies (also great stuffed in a wrap/sarnie)

Avocado Sushi Rolls (fun & messy making this!)

Pesto Raw Noodles

Avocado, broccoli, tomatoes with a wild rice bowl (topped with a lemon and tahini dressing)

Mushroom & Tomato Pasta Bolognese

Tomato & VioLife Vegan Cheese Pizza on Tortilla Wrap (thin crust and crispy and sooooo tasty)

Fruit kebabs (pineapple, strawberry, mango, kiwi)

Avocado and Chocolate Mousse (sweetened with organic maple syrup)

This Thursday I am hosting a ‘Junior Chefs Workshop’ where we will be making some of these wonderful dishes so if you fancy taking part, learning more about how to create some of these dishes, contact me to book now as spaces are limited.
So finally enjoy this time with your little ones and get creative, make it fun and most of all enjoy the messy fun!
With love and light x
