We all love a snack and what better way then to create not only delicious snacks but also healthy & nutritious snacks with no added sugars or fats.
Makes 10-14 balls (depending on size)
2 cup walnuts/cashews
1 cup pitted dates
2 tbsp cacao powder
Juice from 1/2 orange & zest
2 tbsp chia seeds
pinch of Himalayan/sea salt
pinch of cinnamon (optional)
- In a blender mix the nuts first until small bits (not fine)
- Add all the other ingredients except the orange juice
- When all the dates & nuts have broken down and look like their starting to combine, add the juice in stages until the mixture comes together
- Empty into a bowl and start shaping the balls. Using gloves is a great idea as this stops the mixture sticking to your hands and forms the perfect ‘ball’ shape!
Optional: you can coat your ‘balls’ in any toppings you like: sesame seeds, freeze-dried fruits (I have used strawberry in this picture), raw cacao powder, mixed nuts/seeds plus so many other options. Experiment and come up with lots of delicious and decorative toppings.
